Morning:
Prepare a cup of black sesame and walnut congee — cook two tablespoons of black sesame seeds and four walnut halves with half a cup of rice in three cups of water until thick and soft. Season lightly with a pinch of salt. Eat this instead of your usual breakfast three mornings per week.
In Japanese wellness, this is one of the most important foods for nourishing kidney essence — the foundational energy that governs the ears and the entire auditory system. Both black sesame and walnut are considered kidney tonics in the Japanese tradition. They feed the system that, when depleted, begins to generate the ringing.
Evening:
Warm two tablespoons of sesame oil until just above body temperature. Lie on your side. Using a dropper or small spoon, place two drops of the warm oil just inside the ear canal. Leave for five minutes, then turn over and allow it to drain onto a cloth. Repeat on the other side. The warm oil reduces inflammation in the ear canal and stimulates circulation to the surrounding tissue and nerve pathways.
Do the evening treatment every other night for four weeks and observe carefully.
